We have officially launched the Skypod® system at the ILS European Logistics and Development Centre in Zakroczym. This is the first installation of its kind in Central and Eastern Europe and follows 12 months of intensive work to build and integrate this advanced technology. We are proud that the implementation of the system has allowed us to significantly increase automation, speed up picking processes and improve warehouse efficiency.
Skypod® – a new level of automation
The Skypod® system is a state-of-the-art intralogistics solution developed by Exotec that enables autonomous robots to transport goods between racks and picking stations. With more than 200 robots in our warehouse, four orders can be handled simultaneously at a single station, speeding up the entire process and increasing productivity.
“The implementation of the Skypod® system is a milestone in the development of our warehouse processes. Thanks to this investment, we are increasing our operational efficiency and at the same time improving the working conditions of our employees” – emphasises Rafał Tomaszewski, Logistics Systems Development Director.
Flexible installation and system modularity
One of the key elements of the Skypod® is its flexible and modular racking design with a height of more than 11 metres. This allows us to make maximum use of the available storage space and to flexibly adapt the racking layout to changing requirements. The system is dedicated to ‘S’ classification products and can store up to 100,000 SKUs, which represents more than 20% of our total product range in Zakroczym.
Installation also in Romania
Work is also underway to implement the Skypod® system in our warehouse in Brasov, Romania. The project is at the installation stage. This will allow us to test the technology under different operating conditions.
After commissioning the installation in Zakroczym, we see the great potential of this solution in optimising our warehouse processes. It will also have an impact on the development and competitiveness of our company, says Rafał Tomaszewski, Logistics Systems Development Director.
Further expansion
The optimistic test results of the Skypod® system in Zakroczym and the progressive installation in Romania are proof of our commitment to modern technological solutions. We have already decided to further expand the system, which will allow us to better respond to the growing needs of our customers and develop our services on a global scale.
