Modern logistics is not only about punctuality and efficiency, but also about minimising environmental impact. ILS is taking steps to reduce transport-related emissions. These include working with hauliers to use vehicles that meet the EURO 6 emission standard, testing alternative modes of transport and using vehicles with double-decker trailers to increase payload capacity and reduce the number of routes. These initiatives are being introduced with the aim of managing logistics processes efficiently while reducing emissions.
Rail transportation – the solution of the future
We are constantly looking for innovative solutions for intermodal transport, including new ways to move from wheels to rails. Railway is recognised as the least emission intensive mode of land transportation. ILS uses rail transport to serve strategic trade routes covering countries such as Italy, Turkey, Spain, France or Belgium, Germany and the UK. Rail transport allows bulky goods to be transported with minimal emissions.
Tests of electric vehicles
Modern logistics is also about testing alternatives. ILS is actively exploring the possibilities of electric vehicles – both VANs and trucks and truck tractors from BYD and other leading electric car manufacturers. These innovative means of transport are already supporting daily operations at the ILS European Logistics and Development Centre in Zakroczym.
